On one Saturday night – part2
This is a continuation of a previous blog post. View On one Saturday night – part1 here.
Zacsu is just a nick-name that he is famous with (just because Annu calls him like that). Zacsu is one of the most interesting and happening guys I’ve seen in my life. He has no time to rest or waste, his life is either full of work or play or entertainment or sleep. So when we called him, it didn’t surprise me that he had planned a movie and eat-out for dinner. And as he had no one else (apart from Annu with him) he asked if we would like to join. Now this was the best that could have happened to us. We arranged for a time and Sandy agreed to book movie tickets. I was reluctant for that coz, you should know one thing about Sandy, he may not always choose the best movies(restraunts, malls etc.), but he has this bossy air around him and the typical salesman speech that he would try make most people think that his idea was the best thing that could have been done.
Evening was getting darker and we were getting ready for the movie and the dinner. I asked Sandy a few times regarding the movie (atlest the name of the movie), but the only thing he muttered was that it was a Tom Hanks movie. “But which one?” I asked again, “Wait and See” was the only reply I was getting. I started wondering if he had a stroke of short term amnesia or something. Anyway Zacsu came to pick us up. We left in his 2727(his civic, we call it 2727 based on the number plate and luckily it’s the birthdate for both of them). We crossed the main signal and entered the main road, the one that is quite near to our house. A flash of light came and we saw a car almost ready to crash on us. Gears down, left, right and back up. It happened in a second. Zacsu was real quick in dodging the approaching car. And with his speed it’s actually difficult to point out the guilty (as he is real good in driving). I felt as if the car crashed behind us but was unable to see anything, as we had taken a diversion.
The movie turned out to be a real horror as what I was expecting. It was a 3D movie of people landing on moon and other related stuffs. Yes it looked as if it was a documentary. The only thing that Sandy had in his defense was that he would never be able to make it to moon by himself, and that’s why he would prefer to see it in 3D. And we told him hundred times, that if Tom Hanks is the guy going to moon, then it isn’t moon. It’s just a mock up.

On one Saturday night – part1
It was a bright Saturday evening and I was sipping on my favorite Irani chai(an Irani style Tea – the most famous beverage in Hyderabad) from a road side tea stall. We had just moved into Hyderabad. I and few of my friends who got placed together in Bangalore were transferred here for an upcoming project. Unable to find a cozy apartment for a descent rate we decided to settle for something less. We had just started with our job and I had already spent the first few months salary on my gadgets and lost the rest when we shifted(had to pay for breaking the lease in Bangalore). So that’s how we landed up in that apartment – a cheap deal, which basically means that we had nothing except for the "Four Walls". Still on my tea I was remembering my days in college and the fun that we had. Two of my friends, who got engaged the last year of the college had settled in Hyderabad. They both were working for a different IT company. They were just plain lucky to be together. Generally people in IT industry in India are expected to not to expect to be staying in one place for a long time.
Still with my cutting(‘cutting‘ is a term for half a cup of tea, as people in Hyderabad tend to have tea multiple times a day, so instead of having a full cup, people prefer many half cups) and wondering about the next steps that I should be taking in my immediate future, which meant preparing everything from the night’s dinner to finding better grocery stores etc, I saw my roomie coming towards me. "Chai", i asked, intending to buy him a cup of tea. He nodded. "No plan to cook today man, lets got out today somewhere" he said, in low tone as if cooking is the last thing he would have preferred to do to stay alive. "Where?" I sarcastically questioned, ‘coz eating out is what we did the whole week, but deep in my heart even I wasn’t very keen to cook and so was hoping that he would come up with something good. And it was then when the greatest wisdom of King Solomon showered on him and he muttered "Let’s call Zacsu" …

Top 7 ‘must haves’ for Internet Explorer
If you are one of those who prefer to use IE over other browsers like Firefox, or the only reason that you switched to firefox was the lack of power tools and add-on’s in IE, think again. Here in this post i give out few addon’s that are not only comparable to firefox’s ones, but also are better in some sense.
The addons that I recommend are:
- IE Developer Tools: The IE Developer Tool’s provides lots of features for exploring and understanding web-pages. In essence it is more or less like Firebug for Firefox browser. It allows your to view, edit, debug and monitor XHTML, CSS and JavaScript in any webpage. Personally as of today, while writing this post, i like the IE Developer Toolbar more than Firebug. Just try it, you’ll find out why!!!
- ieSpell: ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a webpage. It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries). Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.
- Fiddler: Fiddler is a Web Debugging Proxy which logs all HTTP(S) traffic between your computer and the Internet. Fiddler allows you to inspect all HTTP Traffic, set breakpoints, and "fiddle" with incoming or outgoing data. Fiddler is designed to be much simpler than using NetMon or Achilles, and includes a simple but powerful JScript.NET event-based scripting subsystem.
- Inline Search: Inline Search is an extremely useful free add-on for Internet Explorer that mimics Firefox’s search behavior. It turns searching in a web page into a non modal research experience coupled with a find as you type facility. It integrates flawlessly into IE (version 5.5 or above), giving it that little extra that makes you a lot more efficient when you are looking for a specific piece of information.
- Adblock Pro: Adblock Pro is a small, effective, and intelligent ad blocker for IE & IE7. It can remove annoying ads of website without human intervention and features a smart engine that can identify possible ads and remove them even before you can see them. Adblock Pro can block annoying pop-ups, banner Ads, flying Ads, flash Ads, inline text ads and other Internet Ad annoyances. It not only eliminates the annoyances, but also improves your surfing speed as well.
- IE7 Pro: IE7 Pro is the most desired addon for Internet Explorer. It host a plethora of features to make IE more useful and friendlier. It includes most of the addons mentioned previously. It has an inbuilt spell checker, an Inline Search, Ad Blocker, support for Greasemonkey User Scripts, and a mini Download Manager called MiniDM, IE Faster to customize pre-fetching so as to make the maximum use of the bandwidth.
- FoxyTunes: FoxyTunes lets you listen to music while you surf. It allows you to control most media players and find covers, lyrics and more with just a click in the browser. iTunes, Winamp, and Windows Media Player, among others, are supported.
There are many other great addons available on the web, but ask anyone and you’ll see that this list covers some of the best of the best. I personally use these, as I need to check my pages on both IE and Firefox.
Don’t just browse, empower yourself. Have Fun Browsing.
