Launch on Birthday

Filed Under (Personal) by Rajan Zachariah on 28-09-2007

28 september, an average day for any average man, but for me it means much
more than just a day. 24 years back this day brought me to this world, and as
gifts it gave me my parents, my lovely sister and later in life my friends,
who make my world complete.

Hope and Belief, simple words to talk about but they are the words which
sustains the life on earth. The result of my hope and belief in creating a
sucessful blog is what right in front of your eyes.

I planned to launch the site few months back, but kept procastinating it.

Finally i was in search of a date to launch. It was then when i stumbled upon
my birthdate and I chose it basically for 2 reasons :

  1. It would be very easy for me to remember when i launched this site.

  2. If this date is not lucky then I should not expect anything from the remaining 364/365 days.

To start off, I’m exporting/impoting few/all of my previous posts from rajanz.wordpress.com. Along with me i would like to introduce Gladson and Hannah, who readily agreed to help me with the site. More info on the authors and the site could be found in the about section.

For the design part, i have been searching a free template to build on, for I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel. I have found a few and i’m still going through their license agreement. For now i’m posting with a very basic template/theme.

I’m using few tools for the development of design, about which i would be publishing soon.

Finally, i wish myself and the site A Very Happy Birth-Day.

Vista Sp1 Beta Released - Private

Microsoft has finally released a private SP1 beta build for Vista. It is yet to be made to the general beat tester community. As of now it is only an invitation-only testing. :(

As usual lot of tweaks and refinements have gone into the build. The system is made to work faster than before and the list of Vista certifier softwares has increased 10 fold.

Some key benefits are:

  • The standalone service pack will include all languages. It can update all PCs running Windows Vista, regardless of language.
  • Componentization brings benefits such as the ability to uninstall updates in any order more reliably.
  • Windows Vista contains a significant amount of files shared with Windows Server 2008 and therefore benefits from the continual improvements made during the Windows Server 2008 development cycle.

5 Things I like in a MAC

Mac OS X

  1. Mac is Stable.
  2. Of course the credit goes to the solid architecture of BSD Unix kernel, but Apple were among the first to develop a neat GUI for it to succeed in the market. Mac OS X is basically based on Darwin, an open-source implementation of BSD.

  3. Best at audio/video/photo editing.
  4. Mac comes bundles with out-of-the box photo/audio/video editing softwares which are of top quality and suffice from basic to advanced needs. Moreover Adobe(R) does have a version of all their products targeted for the Mac users.

  5. Vista runs on a Mac
  6. With Mac coming on the Intel platform, you could get the best of both the worlds and run Microsoft Windows Vista on the new Mac. This is not that easy the other way round, on a traditional PC(i’m not gonna post the hacks here now ;) ).

  7. .Mac
  8. A mac comes with a subscription to a .Mac account, to save your files and data online. The retrieval is really simple and fast.

  9. Fewer Viruses
  10. Mac not being the top-selling OS, many hackers/crackers won’t take it as their first target. Even with Mac being their priority, the rock-solid Unix architecture is difficult(not impossible) to breach.
